Sweco, a prominent architecture and engineering consultancy in Europe, has finalized an agreement to acquire two Luxembourg-based firms, PROgroup and +ImpaKT, significantly bolstering its sustainability consulting capabilities. The acquisition is strategic, aimed at enhancing Sweco's credentials in environmental solutions and aligning with the EU's Green Deal targets, as stated in a recent announcement.

This move adds approximately 40 specialists to Sweco's existing workforce of 110 in Luxembourg, incorporating expertise in sustainable real estate, urban planning, and data-driven sustainability strategies. According to Erwin Malcorps, CEO of Sweco in Belgium and Luxembourg, the new acquisitions will address the increasing market demand for advisory services focused on sustainability.

PROgroup specializes in project management for sustainable urban development, ensuring a comprehensive approach from project definition to execution, while +ImpaKT assists organizations in crafting data-driven strategies for sustainability. The firms reported a combined revenue of €5.1 million in 2024, compared to Sweco's revenue of €350 million, exemplifying the smaller firms’ niche expertise.

This acquisition is part of Sweco's ambitious growth strategy aimed at enhancing its market position as a leader in the engineering and architectural sector, leveraging digitalization and facilitating the green transition across Europe. Sweco currently employs about 22,000 professionals, underlining its significant role in the sustainability sector via innovative and environmentally responsible approaches.
