Svensk Handel, the Swedish Trade Federation, is set to unveil new statistics aimed at analyzing shopping habits across urban environments in Sweden. This initiative is geared toward assisting in sustainable urban planning and enhancing understanding of trade's role in different city contexts. The new data will cover a range of shopping locations, including urban centers, shopping malls, and external trading areas, and will categorize findings by city size: large cities, medium towns, and smaller municipalities.
Elisabet Elmsäter Vegsö, a trade policy expert at Svensk Handel, emphasized the necessity for accurate data to foster well-informed discussions surrounding trade impacts in municipalities. "Nearly all municipalities are facing challenges regarding the development of trade in their areas, and factual data will drive balanced dialogues," she stated.
This statistical endeavor aligns with the government’s latest strategy to create vibrant and safe urban environments, which highlights trade as a cornerstone in achieving these goals. Vegsö remains optimistic about how these upcoming statistics will serve as a vital tool in reinforcing the country's trading ecosystem.
The statistics will build upon and enhance existing Cityindex data, with Svensk Handel acquiring the previous statistics from Fastighetsägarna to ensure continuity. Produced by HUI, the statistics are anticipated to be released in the fall of this year, and those interested can contact Svensk Handel for early insights.
