A recent survey by M Sverige shows a marked increase in its members' support for transitioning to renewable fuels. The 2025 findings indicate that nearly 30% more members are willing to pay extra for lower-emission fuels compared to the previous year, reflecting a growing commitment to sustainability among drivers.

In total, 32% of M Sveriges members reported owning vehicles that can use alternative fuels, which is more than double the national average for Sweden’s vehicle fleet. This trend underscores a significant shift towards climate-conscious automobile practices within the organization, which represents a broad spectrum of Swedish motorists.

Carl-Erik Stjernvall, the sustainability officer at M Sverige, noted the critical role of maintaining and enhancing the reduction obligation that has previously helped to curtail road traffic emissions. This comes at a time when emissions from Swedish road transport escalated by 24% last year. Stjernvall highlighted that only about 14% of the 5 million passenger cars in Sweden are fully or partly electric, indicating a need for more significant advances in the transition to renewable energy in transportation.

The organization aims to push for the 2030 goals focused on emission reduction and emphasizes the importance of increasing the blending of renewable fuels, suggesting that such practices can reduce emissions irrespective of vehicle cost. Stjernvall stressed the need for improvements in vehicle and fuel quality without imposing higher taxes on drivers, advocating for a sustainable mobility future.

This survey, engaging 5,169 members, reaffirms M Sveriges commitment to promoting safer, sustainable, and accessible mobility in Sweden.
