  • • Avarn acknowledged some guards failed to meet their duties.

A serious security lapse has been discovered at Helsingborg Hospital, where Avarn Security, a major security provider, was found to have falsified security rounds. An investigation revealed that security rounds, which should take several minutes to ensure safety by checking doors and securing the premises, were reported as completed in just a few seconds. This alarming revelation comes after extensive documentation surfaced that indicates hundreds of incidents of such short rounds since Avarn began their contract over a year ago.

Hospital officials, including Mattias Stafflinger, the unit manager for property, safety, environment, and preparedness, expressed significant concern about the potential for overlooking criminal activities. "There is a risk that we miss criminal activity that could have been prevented," Stafflinger warned.

Avarn's spokesperson, Mikael Högberg, acknowledged that while some discrepancies may stem from incorrect reporting, there are clear instances where guards failed to perform their duties effectively. He noted that after the hospital raised concerns, some rounds began to take longer; however, new issues persisted, including 140 recorded instances where rounds were noted as completed even though no checks were conducted. Högberg described the situation as regrettable and stated that Avarn is actively working to address these deficiencies, stressing the importance of maintaining service quality.
