Schibsted, the prominent Norwegian media company, has officially completed its acquisition of Telia Company's television operations, acquiring both the Swedish channel TV4 and the Finnish channel MTV for a deal valued at 6.55 billion SEK. ‘Today marks a historic day for Schibsted,’ said Siv Juvik Tveitnes, the CEO of Schibsted. She emphasized the role of TV4 and MTV as vital, independent news providers that uphold democratic values in the Nordic countries. Tveitnes expressed confidence that the integration of TV4 and MTV will bolster Schibsted's existing media properties, including Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet, enhancing collaboration while allowing each channel to maintain its national identity.
In 2024, the TV4 and MTV group generated external revenues of 8.16 billion SEK and boasted approximately 887,000 subscribers, confirming its significant market presence and growth potential.
