Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson Warns of Ongoing Cyberattacks Targeting Sweden

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has announced that Sweden is currently facing extensive cyberattacks targeting various sectors, including critical infrastructure and several large companies. During a press briefing on June 11, 2025, Kristersson stressed the severity and scale of the attacks, stating, "We are under constant attack from extensive cyber operations," and highlighting that this situation affects not only government agencies but also significant entities like Sveriges Television (SVT) and numerous banks.

While the Prime Minister did not specify the nations responsible for the attacks, he referenced previous assessments from Sweden’s Security Service (SÄPO), which have named Russia, China, and Iran as systematic threats engaging in cyber operations. Kristersson's statements came in light of the recent overload attacks targeting SVT, which have now prompted an investigation supported by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). SÄPO has confirmed that foreign powers are actively looking for vulnerabilities to exploit, indicating a persistent national security risk.
