Örebro has launched a new summer music series, "Jazz på slottet," aimed at promoting jazz and improvisational music within the city. The initiative, which will run every Thursday throughout July 2025, kicked off on July 7, and is a collaboration between City Örebro, Lill-Annas, Örebro Castle, and Örebro Jazz & Beyond. The first concert was scheduled for 3:00 PM at Lill-Annas' outdoor terrace, providing a picturesque setting for jazz lovers.

The initiative addresses the need to highlight Örebro's rich jazz scene, which has somewhat been underrepresented in local cultural offerings. Fred Warnby, chairman of Örebro Jazz & Beyond, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This project is vital for bringing jazz to a broader audience in Örebro, a city with a strong jazz heritage catering to both local and international artists." Sandra Bandick Magnusson from City Örebro stressed the importance of diversifying the city’s music offerings, emphasizing that these concerts will enhance the local cultural landscape.

The entrance to the event is free, encouraging community participation and allowing residents and visitors to enjoy live jazz music in a vibrant atmosphere. The concert series not only showcases local talent but also reinforces Örebro's historical connection to jazz as part of its cultural identity.
