A significant new bilateral agreement has been signed between Norway and Sweden in the field of cold-blooded horse racing. This agreement, which emphasizes continued cooperation in the development of cold-blooded trotters, was formally approved by the boards of Det Norske Travselskap (DNT) and Svensk Travsport (ST) on May 20 and May 26, 2025, respectively.

Set to take effect on January 1, 2026, the agreement reflects a long-standing partnership that has existed since 1990, benefiting the breed through collaborative breeding and racing efforts. Svein Morten Buer, Secretary General of DNT, stated, "With this agreement, we have laid a solid foundation for the breed's continued development," underscoring the importance of this initiative for the future of cold-blooded trotters.

Maria Croon, CEO of Svensk Travsport, also highlighted the strategic importance of preserving and strengthening this unique breed through joint cooperation. The new agreement will focus on establishing a shared breeding evaluation system and include regular assessments to adapt to the evolving needs of the breed. This enhanced cooperation aims to improve the quality and sustainability of cold-blooded horse racing in both nations.
