Massive Fire Engulfs Multi-Family Building in Boden, Sweden

A substantial fire engulfed a multi-family residential building on Lundagårdsgatan in Boden, Sweden, late on July 13, 2025, leading to a rapid and complete evacuation of the residents. The fire was first reported around 10:30 PM, originating in the attic of the building and quickly spreading downward to the apartments below. Fire chief and emergency personnel made the difficult decision to allow the building to burn down, prioritizing the safety of the surrounding area over the containment of the blaze, according to officials from the Boden Fire Department.

Seventeen fire units were deployed to combat the conflagration, but it took several hours before the fire was even partially under control. By 2 AM on July 14, approximately half of the structure had already been rendered unsalvageable due to the intensity and scale of the fire, which the primarily wooden structure exacerbated. Ulf Gille, an operator with the fire department, confirmed that units would remain on-site in the morning to monitor for any further flare-ups and to ensure the fire did not spread to nearby properties.
