Hjärnfonden has revealed its largest funding distribution to date, allocating 152.8 million SEK to neuroscience research across Sweden for the year 2025. This initiative will support a total of 112 projects, including 39 based at the renowned Karolinska Institutet (KI). The selection process was highly competitive, with 458 applications submitted, the most the foundation has ever received. Projects were evaluated based on scientific quality and originality, reflecting Hjärnfonden's commitment to tackling unresolved questions in brain research and developing new solutions for brain disorders.
Among the notable funding recipients is Patrik Ernfors from KI, awarded a three-year grant to study chronic pain related to arthritis.
