In June, twenty-five global leaders from twenty-one countries gathered at Kämpasten near Sigtuna, Sweden, for a masterclass as part of the Executive Programme in International Politics and Diplomacy for Health. This initiative, a collaboration between the Karolinska Institutet and the Stockholm School of Economics, focuses on developing essential skills for navigating complex political processes in global health.

During the program, participants engaged in discussions addressing six thematic areas: decision-making, relationship building, leadership, collaboration, managing failures, and effective communication. Program leader Anders Nordström noted the week featured "inspiring discussions and genuine exchanges" among attendees, highlighting the program's unique peer-to-peer learning approach where experienced diplomats, politicians, and health leaders participated.

Unlike traditional programs, this one emphasizes engagement through personal storytelling, collegial dialogue, and open discussions, fostering a vibrant learning atmosphere. The Executive Programme is part of a broader Health Diplomacy Initiative, which involves over thirty global institutions and incorporates research in political science, international relations, and public health. It receives key support from major foundations, including the Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation, as well as Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflecting Sweden’s growing role in the global health diplomacy arena.
