Swedish athlete Fanny Roos has qualified for the shot put final at the 2025 European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn after achieving a throw of 18.56 meters. This mark secured her a fifth-place finish in the qualifying round, where Dutch competitor Jessica Schilder led with an impressive throw of 19.92 meters.
Having previously earned medals at the indoor European Championships, including a bronze in Istanbul two years ago, Roos expressed her calmness heading into the final, stating, "I just want to perform as well as possible and see how far the shot goes and what my placement will be."
In addition to Roos's achievement, Samuel Pihlström made headlines by breaking the Swedish record in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:30.87, surpassing the earlier record by over a second. Pihlström highlighted his pride in this accomplishment, celebrating it on Sweden's National Day.
