In a remarkable display of skill and leadership, Erik Hjalmarsson from Sundsvall emerged as the standout performer at the 2025 World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) held in Gothenburg from June 13 to June 15. Hjalmarsson achieved an impressive record, securing three victories and a second-place finish overall while tying the course record with a score of 21 strokes.
The tournament, which attracted 105 participants from 14 countries, saw Hjalmarsson significantly contribute to the Swedish team’s triumph in the team competition. He dominated his men's class and clinched the title for the overall best player. Hjalmarsson, alongside his partner Wilma Harrysson, also excelled in the mixed competition, finishing in second place.
Reflecting on his outstanding performance, Hjalmarsson noted, "Yesterday was my big day in terms of play, and I will remember it as fantastic. I started today with a seven-stroke lead and ended with a seven-stroke victory." He expressed satisfaction in maintaining his lead while emphasizing the impact of a strong performance on the last two holes of his first round as a turning point in his successful tournament.
The WAGM is organized by the World Minigolf Sport Federation together with the Swedish Minigolf Federation and Askims Bangolfklubb, showcasing the pinnacle of adventure golf on an international level. Hjalmarsson's achievements not only highlight individual excellence but also reinforce Sweden's prowess in the sport.
