Emilia Siggberg Joins Skuru IK: A Promising Step Forward in Swedish Handball

Emilia Siggberg, a talented 17-year-old handball player from Finland, has officially signed with Skuru IK for the upcoming 2025–26 season. This transfer marks an exciting transition for Siggberg, who describes her move to Sweden as a dream come true. "It has been a dream to play outside Finland's borders. It feels very exciting with my new challenge at Skuru and it will be super fun to be part of the team," she stated, reflecting her enthusiasm for joining one of the top teams in the Swedish handball league.

Skuru IK has a strong historical presence in the league, notably reaching the semifinals in recent seasons and boasting several Swedish championships (SM-guld). Siggberg, who previously played for Dicken women's team and represented Finland at the junior level, is recognized for her versatility, describing herself as a two-way player adept in both defense and offense. "I love to win. I have a good shot and am reasonably fast. My height is also a significant advantage for me as a nine-meter player," she added.

In addition to her athletic pursuits, Siggberg plans to continue her high school education remotely while adapting to her new role at Skuru. She will join fellow Nordic talents, including Ellen Voutilainen, as they aim for a successful season together. Notably, Siggberg is part of a wave of Finnish players transitioning to Sweden, with Corinna Jensen and Matilda Peitsaro also signing with Swedish clubs, indicating a growing trend of Finnish talents seeking opportunities in the Swedish handball league.
