The Jewish Central Council in Sweden has called for the cancellation of the Irish rap group Kneecap's performance at the upcoming Way Out West festival, set for August. The council's chairman, Aron Verständig, stated in an open letter that Kneecap’s booking creates "a directly threatening environment" for attendees with Jewish or Israeli backgrounds. He highlighted the group’s history of using hate rhetoric against Jews and Israelis, citing instances where they encouraged audiences to chant antisemitic slogans, notably by proclaiming "Fuck Israel."

Furthermore, it was revealed that one of the group’s members, Mo Chara, is currently facing terrorism charges in the UK for expressing support for Hezbollah and Hamas, organizations classified as terrorist groups. The trial against Chara began on June 18, where he has denied all charges and was released on bail.

The concerns regarding Kneecap extend beyond music to issues of public safety and cultural sensitivity at the festival. Despite the increasing pressure from the Jewish community, the organizers of Way Out West have not publicly commented on the situation or the group's scheduled performance, leaving many questions unanswered as the festival date approaches.
